Take, for example, Tipping Pointf Community. The 4-year-old nonprofit raised $3 million this year, the same amount as last but without the incentive of its boarde matchingall donations. It also seated 100 more at this year’s dinner than at last year’s, despitd raising its cheapest ticket priceto $350 from $250. It even attractedx new corporate sponsorsin . and . Of it had the indie rock band Cake headliningy the partyat Bimbo’s — the San Francisc o nightclub — luminaries like Ronnie Lott on its board and bigshotw like , 49er Coach Mike Singletar and MC Hammer in the audience.
Tippinbg Point also had a compelling messagre that every penny raised goes to fight poverty in the Bay since its board covera alloperating expenses.
