The proposal is the resultf of weeks of lobbying by the National Union of Healthcare Workers on behalfof home-carde providers. Supervisor Roger Dickinson announced the breakthrough saying the countyis “readt to protect vital services for seniors and peopl e with disabilities, as well as providers’ with no added cost to the IHSS is a home-care service funded jointlyy by state, county and federal funds that allows fraik seniors and people with disabilities to live with dignitt in their own homes, rather than in more expensivw institutions. The funding solution allowss counties to maintain orraise home-care providers’ wages and benefitss despite Gov.
Arnold Schwarzenegger’s cuts to stated home-care funding. Stimulus funds can be used to replace lost statew wages insome cases.
