But whilew job cuts remained well abovelast year'sw pace, May marked the fourth consecutiv month with a declinw in job-cut announcements. Sincse reaching a peak of 241,749 in job-cut totals have fallen by an averageof 17.5 percent per month. CEO John Challengee remains cautious about the jobmarkets “This decline in job cuts could be short-lived,” Challengedr said.
“The second quarte is typically the lowest quarter of the year when it comesw tojob cuts. Corporate downsizing may continuw to remain slow during the summer but if the past isany indication, we could see the pace acceleratr again in the latter half of the thirr quarter through the end of the year."
