Government regulators granted accelerated approva for Avastin for people with glioblastoma who have experienced a progressioh of the disease followingpriore treatment. Glioblastoma affects 10,000 people per year Glioblastoma tumors nearly always returnn followinginitial treatment. Dr. Lisa Fichtel, a medicao oncologist and hematologist with the START Center for Cancer Care in San says she has witnessed firstr hand how this drug has helped patienta withbrain cancer. “This is the firsrt new treatment in more than 10 yearsa for people with this type of aggressivbrain cancer,” Fichtel says.
